FLEXIBILITY

While we all know it’s fun to be in the air, whether it’s on an apparatus or jumping from surface to surface, sometimes we want to feel the ground beneath our feet with flexibility classes. Our flexibility classes are great for all students looking to raise their body awareness, build overall strength and stamina, and compliments any aerial, acrobatic, and pole practice.

  • Is touching your toes harder than you’d like? Would you like to improve your mobility for the fun activities you want to do, and just for everyday life? Do you cringe, or just laugh when someone says backbend or splits?

    This class is to get you started on your path to better flexibility and mobility in a safe, beginner friendly way. We’ll go through and warm up the muscles and joints, then have a mix of active and passive stretching and flexibility strengthening exercises for ~3 major focus areas for each class. Learn to be more aware of what your body is capable of, and what it needs!

  • An active class where we use active flexibility movements and exercises, and various types of stretching to improve flexibility and range of motion.

Contortion

Stretch and prepare your body for the next level of flexibility with contortion training through active release techniques, nerve flosses, and both active & passive stretching. Utilizing multiple props as well as incorporating flexibility strength and conditioning drills helps students reach a more advanced level of flexibility.

  • In this class we will be stretching and preparing the body for contortion training. We will work on active release techniques, nerve flosses, and both active & passive stretching. We will be utilizing multiple props as well as incorporating flexibility strength and conditioning drills to help students reach a more advanced level of flexibility. This class teaches primarily Mongolian Contortion training techniques with a focus on the upper back & neck areas of the body. Students will have the option to accept hands on assistance from the instructor to help them get deeper into their positions safely. 

  • Further development of contortion fundamentals, end-range conditioning, polishing lines, and exploration of sequencing. Topics that will be covered include bridge varieties, scales and tilts, handbalancing (contortion and straight-body), cheststands — and building endurance to put together combos of these skills. 

    Pre-Reqs:

    (No spot) 

    • Able to enter/hold freestanding scorpion scale

    • Able to hold freestanding front/Y-scale with straight knees

    • Able to enter/hold bridge, straight elbows, shoulders stacked over hands

    • Able to enter elbow bridge (from straight arm bridge or kick over) w/ face clearing the ground

    • Able to walkover from standing to bridge

    (With spot)

    • Able to kick up to handstand away from wall

    • Handstand endurance of 1 min at wall

RECOVERY YOGA

Join our recovery yoga class for some self care and body love. Pole, aerials and circus type movement can cause wear and tear on the body. We often say we need more recovery - so come try out some yoga recovery for your health and longevity as an athlete!
